This role is remote, though the right to work for a UK-registered company is required. If you prefer, you can work from our offices in London and Newcastle upon Tyne.

At Literal Labs, we build state of the art Machine Learning algorithms for the Edge. Our goal is to allow customers to integrate AI into all devices, however large or small, wherever they need to be. We are world leaders in Tsetlin machines and other logic based techniques which are faster, explainable, and orders of magnitude more energy efficient than today’s neural networks. About the role:

We’re excited to begin our search for a Mid / Senior Frontend Software Engineer who will:

  • Be part of Product Engineering, which focuses on connecting customers to our platform of Machine Learning tools.
  • Take pride in crafting maintainable, high quality code, while balancing technical debt and business needs.
  • Advocate for the customer, driving user centric design and experience.
  • Analyse user journeys to identify problems using logging and analytics tools.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Product, Machine Learning and Hardware to build solutions that use all our capabilities.
  • Create technical documentation and share knowledge to upskill other team members.
  • Stay on top of web development trends and apply them pragmatically.

Skills we are looking for:

Essential

  • Expertise in building user interfaces with TypeScript, React.js and Next.js.
  • Fluency with CSS and popular frameworks (e.g. Tailwind).
  • Proven ability to understand user needs and translate that into end Product.
  • Experience with automated frontend testing (e.g. Vitest, Nightwatch).

Desirable

  • An eye for design detail and ability to contribute where needed.
  • Experience with Backend API development and relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL and ORMs like Prisma.
  • Experience working in a start-up or early-stage Deep Tech projects.
  • Experience with Cloud computing, ideally Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with CI/CD, ideally GitHub Actions.
  • Demonstrable passion for web development.
